Myproject Institute of Security Studies last weekend in Abuja honoured the Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and five others for promoting peace and security.
The institute celebrated the dignitaries at the 2019 Security Excellence Award (SEA) and Investiture Ceremony.
Other state governors honoured are Bello Muhammad Matawalle of Zamfara, Yahaya Bello of Kogi and Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State. A veteran journalist, Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, and Bar. Lawrence Alobi were also honoured.
Three officials were also inducted as Fellows of the Institute. They are the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai; Acting DCG, Human Resources, Nigerian Immigration Service, ACG. Iam Haliru; and the Acting Comptroller General, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr. Nnamdi Nwinyi.
Chairman of the occasion, Major General Garba Audu (rtd) called for the strengthening of community policing system for effective and early detection of security threats across the country.
“Security in the first instance is everybody’s business and the narrative is that security challenges are continuously changing.”
